Lily to the rescue!
This is the first chance we've really gotten to "meet" Lily: She's hardcore. She's badass. She's Christian. She's punk. She's a lesbian. She's a gamer.
And — she's presently only armed with a walking stick, which may be a problem.
And that's it for real for chapter 7.
When I first finished this script, I was near the bottom of my medical situation in the summer of 2023. I was jittering and shaking as I typed the last few edits and not at all convinced that I'd ever live long enough to draw it.
But — I was happy as I reached writing this point in the Day Two story, because even though it ends on an open question, it would still have been a good ending. If I'd never been able to write another word, this would have been an okay place for the story to stop. It still leaves lots of unfinished plot threads, but it's upbeat, the first glimmer of hope Chloe's truly had since the story started, and letting her have a win — however ambiguous — made me pretty happy.
Thankfully, my health has markedly improved since then, which is why I was able to draw this chapter for real, and why I have plans for several chapters yet to come. I have rough outlines set for chapters 8 through 12 — the story of Day Two is far from over!
There's no schedule yet for chapter 8, "M.A." I don't even have a full script written for it — much less started drawing it! — so you're going to have to wait. I'll probably squeeze in some fillers and one-offs in a couple of months, but for now, I'm going to take a well-earned break.
I hope you all enjoyed chapter 7. I don't know how everyone else feels about it, but it's one of my most favorite so far.
And now, while you're waiting for chapter 8, would be a great time to rev up your speculation engines! Every chapter answers some questions but raises a lot more, so have at it! Who even is Chloe now? And Zia clearly wasn't convinced about anything Chloe said. And where are Two and Lily? And will Chloe ever find a suitable hairbrush for her tail!? 🤔💡🎓🤓
