- Zia (sitting on her bed): "Dr. Bernovich was working for the Khazovians. He's the one who made the portal generator that messed up the world. He was one of my thesis advisors until he skipped the country — and took my work with him."
- Chloe: "So — you wrote a paper on turning people into freaks and monsters?"
- Zia (looking down, grumpy): "No, I wrote a paper on making a Star Trek teleporter. He just didn't understand the math."
- Chloe frowns. Zia (looks up, irritated, holding her hands in a Vulcan salute): "Hey, don't look at me like that! Star Trek is cool!"
